Gopeds

The Goped, or stand-up scooter, was invented in 1985 by Steve Patmont of California.  The first model was the 1985 Sport.  He originally made in his garage for friends, but quickly the folding compact motorized scooter was a hit, and he out-grew the garage.   Now Gopeds are sold around the world.

Usually between 23-63cc in engine size, “Goped” also describes off-brand stand up motorized scooters.  Some Gopeds run on gasoline, while others are electric; the company also makes a people-powered model, with no engine, the Grow-ped.
